Your Responsibility Code

Skiing can be enjoyed in many ways. At ski areas you may see people using alpine, snowboard, telemark, cross country and other specialized ski equipment, such as that used by disabled or other skiers. Regardless of how you decide to enjoy the slopes, always show courtesy to others and be aware that there are elements of risk in skiing that common sense and personal awareness can help reduce. Observe the code listed below and share with other skiers the responsibility for a great skiing experience.

Know the code. It’s your responsibility.

  • Always stay in control. You must be able to stop or avoid people or objects.

  • People ahead or downhill of you have the right-of-way. You must avoid them.

  • Stop only where you are visible from above and do not restrict traffic.

  • Look uphill and avoid others before starting downhill or entering a trail.

  • You must prevent runaway equipment.

  • Read and obey all signs, warnings, and hazard markings.

  • Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas.

  • You must know how and be able to load, ride and unload lifts safely. If you need assistance, ask the attendant.

  • Do not use the lifts or terrain when impaired by alcohol or drugs.

  • If you are involved in a collision or incident, share your contact information with each other and a ski area employee.

Up Hill Policy

No uphill traffic is allowed. No one is allowed on the slopes when we are closed. We have equipment on the slopes that can not be used with people on the slopes.

Smart Style

  • Look Before You Leap: Scope around the jumps first, not over them. Know your landings are clear and clear yourself out of the landing.

  • Easy Style It: Start small and work your way up. (Inverted aerials not recommended).

  • Respect Gets Respect: From the lift line through the park.

  • Officially endorsed by: National Ski Areas Association

Prevent Ski and Snowboard Theft

Visitors are reminded that it is their responsibility to properly secure personal equipment like skis, snowboards, and other gear. They should consider some simple preventative anti-theft measures:

  • Lock skis-snowboards to ski racks. Locks range in price from $10-$15 and are a lightweight durable device.

  • Keep your equipment in constant view or have someone watch it for you.

  • Most thefts tend to occur between the hours of 3pm and 4pm.

  • In order to better assist with the recovery of your equipment, visitors are encouraged to record serial numbers associated with their equipment, take a digital photo, and report theft to both ski area security and the Sheriff’s Office of primary jurisdiction. The Sheriff’s office phone number is 530.926.7539
