| Click on Photo for more images of Rage Films |
| Once again Rage Films visited Mount Shasta Ski Park from April 19th to May 1st to throw some big air and shoot some progressive features for their upcoming film. Having traveled the world Mount Shasta Ski Park was one of their last stops before heading home to Bend to start the editing on their feature film for the 2008 season. This was their third visit in four years and once again Mt. Shasta Ski Park built some unique features for world class extreme skiers to ride. Rage really enjoys coming to the resort because of the terrain layout and family owner atmosphere. All features were built by Mt. Shasta Ski Park employees with a Rage Films advisor. The ski athletes were in for ten days and hit several features inlcuding a gap jump onto our new wave box, a dual tree jib, and a gap jump with a wall ride. Features were built in the North Saddle area as well as our Revolution Terrain Park. Rage Films was established in 1994 and is based out of Bend, Oregon. The previous two trips resulted in some unique footage of Mt Shasta Ski Park that can be found in their Booter Crunk and Corduroy Films. Most notable was the 120 ft gap jump built for the Corduroy feature. Rage Films will be back in Mount Shasta during late fall to debut their 2008 feature film. |

| "SKI THE BOLD LINE..." |
 |
On Friday the ski community of Jefferson State lost one of it’s brightest and most loved members. Gene Landsmann passed due to complications from cancer. Gene joined the Mount Shasta Ski Park family just a few years ago after spending thirty years with his Mt. Ashland family. Not only was he an incredible and graceful skier but he was intelligent, extremely humorous, and gracious. His passion and knowledge for skiing enveloped and inspired many skiers over the past thirty five years. There are few people you can talk to on both ski mountains who didn’t know Gene and everyone who did know him only had kind things to say. He was quiet but when he spoke it was both eloquent and thoughtful. Gene was modest about his skiing ability but was touched by no one when on the slopes. Friday was a sad day and Gene will be missed by both of his skiing families but his spirit will live on in generations to come. We’ll miss you Gene,
Love the Ski Park Family.
A celebration of Gene’s life will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, March 4th at Mount Shasta Ski Park. |

| GREAT START TO THE 2007/2008 SEASON |
 |
Mount Shasta Ski Park is enjoying a great start to the 07/08 season. Early winter storms have given the Ski Park a base of 145 inches, and given the powder hounds plenty of winter fluff to ski on. The resort has also recieved 40,000 visitors since opening on December 19th. Mount Shasta Ski Park was also named recently in the Washington Post as one of the best ski resorts that no one's heard of. The article "Ski This Mountain and You'll Be a Believer" written by Cindy Loose is a great representation of the Mount Shasta community and the activities that can be enjoyed on a winter visit. With the snow came Andy Blumbert who writes a column for EXPN. He enjoyed a fun visit to the area and gave brief mention to the resort in his blog The High Planes Drift. As the snow continues to fall into February the Ski Park invites all to come play on the winter slopes through April. |

| COYOTE CHAIRLIFT AT MT. SHASTA SKI PARK SUCCESSFULLY PASSES LOAD TEST |
Mt. Shasta Ski Park work crews were busy all summer and fall with maintenance, repairs and improvements of the infrastructure of the facility. The old analog drive on the Coyote chairlift has been replaced with a new $30,000 digital drive.
According to the ANSI (American National Standard Institute) code the installation of the new drive is considered a design change to the lift thus requiring a load test.
A load test simulates 110% of the load on a lift when it runs at full capacity.
Under the supervision of Kirk Doering, an inspector from the California State Tramway Board, the test of the new drive on the Coyote lift was successfully completed last Thursday. Lance Haywood the designer and engineer and installer of the drive was also on hand.
In order to simulate110% of the weight of passengers on a fully loaded lift the Ski Park used cardboard boxes lined with garbage bags which were filled with water. Each of the 64 triple chairs was loaded with 3 “water boxes” equaling 510 lbs of load. In total 48,000 gallons of water equaling a weight of 40,000 lbs were loaded unto the chair lift. |
 |
| Randy Cruse, Lift Maintenance Supervisor of the Ski Park fills 3 "weight boxes" with water by means of a custom built 3 faucet spout |
| According to Richard Coots the Ski Park’s operations manager “This new drive verifies that an efficient safety system is in place and that the chairlift is more reliable which should improve customer satisfaction”. |

| MT. SHASTA SKI PARK SLATES JOB FAIR |
Mt. Shasta ski park, CA….. During the winter months the Mt. Shasta Ski Park is one of the largest employers in Siskiyou County. To operate the resort during a typical winter season the ski park needs a labor force of about 300 workers.
In order to secure it’s labor pool for the up coming winter season the Mt. Shasta Ski Park will slate a Job Fair on Saturday, November 17 from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Mt. Shasta Park. The jobs currently available are divided into indoor operations like Food Service, Rental Shop and Sanitation Services or outdoor operations like Lift Operations and Parking/Security. In addition department managers will be on hand to answer any questions and prospective employees can inspect their work environment first hand. According to Human Resource Director Jeff Jeffress:” Working at the Ski Park in a recreational environment is a lot of fun and of course ski/snowboard privileges are an additional job benefit. “
Job fairs are convenient for individuals who are seeking employment as prospective employees can complete the several hiring steps like job applications and interviews at the same time and location. The pool of prospective workers is usually very mixed and represents all walks of life and all ages. Not everyone is seeking a job at the ski park for financial reward.
